Our research involves both quantitative and qualitative methodologies

Experimental design and mixed methods evaluation

Professor Sallie Lamb is the co-director of the Oxford Clinical Trials Research Unit (OCTRU). We work closely with OCTRU and the Centre for Statistic in Medicine (CSM) to develop innovative trial designs. We have experience in other experimental designs including cohort studies and research into prognosis.

Alongside this quantitative work, we have also developed a stream of qualitative research. The RRIO team have expertise in qualitative research methods with a special interest in using qualitative methods to assist with the development of complex interventions and to enhance the evaluation of treatments during clinical trials. We are especially interested in the patients' experiences of taking part in trial of treatment to help us understand why treatments do or do not work.
